Q: What is an Elective Prenatal 3D Ultrasound?

An elective 3D & 4D prenatal sonogram evaluates the following: the number of babies in the womb, confirmation of the baby’s heartbeat and the babies gender if requested. Our elective 3D/4D sonograms provide a reassuring experience for the mother, father, family and friends. The imaging used in this limited OB diagnostic sonogram examination is not performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities. A complete routine OB diagnostic sonogram should have already been performed to determine the gestational age of the baby and to evaluate for fetal abnormalities as well as the basics of fetal anatomy screening.

Q: Does this elective limited medical prenatal ultrasound take the place of an ultrasound at my Doctor’s office?

No, it does not! Mothers who desire an elective prenatal sonogram must already be under the care of a physician and have already received a complete routine OB diagnostic sonogram through their physician. An elective OB sonogram is in no way to be used in place of a complete diagnostic or medically indicated sonogram.

Q: Is Ultrasound safe?

Diagnostic ultrasound is FDA approved and has been in use for over 35 years. The American institute of Ultrasound in Medicine has issued the following statement in regards to the clinical ultrasound:

"No confirmed biological effects on patients or instrument operator caused by exposure at intensities typical of present diagnostic instruments have ever been reported. Although the possibility exists that such biological effects may be identified in the future, current data indicate that the benefit to patients of the prudent use of diagnostic ultrasound outweigh the risks if any, that may be present."

Q: Do I need a note from my doctor?

We will notify your Prenatal Care Provider that you have called and are requesting our services for an ultrasound. An order form from a state licensed physician is required , we take care of this at the time of booking and we will fax this form directly to your doctor for approval. We require you to be under the care of a physician and we require you to have completed your routine OB diagnostic sonogram through your Doctor. We always encourage our patients to speak with their Doctor about their intention to schedule an appointment for a 3D/4D sonogram at Peek A Baby Prenatal 3D Ultrasound Imaging Center. Our goal is to work with your Doctor while providing a service for you.

Q: At what month during my pregnancy should I schedule an appointment?

We suggest you schedule your appointment between weeks 22 and 34 of your pregnancy when we can generally get the best facial images of your baby. Women with twins should visit around the 26th week of their pregnancy.

Q: How far in advance should I schedule my appointment?

Q: Will my images of the baby be perfect?

Most of the time, but not always. If the baby is looking towards your spine it will be difficult to see the baby's face. In such cases a second attempt is made (at no additional cost ) which will usually improve the images we are able to acquire. Each baby is an individual, however, we strive to obtain images that you will enjoy.

Q: How many guests may I bring?

This is an exciting experience we want you to feel comfortable sharing with family and freinds. Our office provides comfortable seating for 5-8 Guests, but you are welcome to bring more guests. We use a large flat panel display so everyone in the room can easily see your new baby.

Q: How long will my session last?

Your session will usually take anywhere from 15 min to 30 minutes.

Q: What Ultrasound machine do you use?

We use the Medison Sonoace 8000 . Medison pioneered and engineered 3D/4D technology. Other manufacturers integrate Medison components into their equipment to obtain 3D/4D images.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

Insurance does not cover the cost of 3D/4D sonograms. This is an elective sonogram and it is not a replacement for your doctor ordered routine diagnostic OB sonogram. We accept Cash, Credit and Debit cards.
